A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT, JIM
GODFREY
After
recognizing the deteriorating condition of several cottages and homes
in south Rockport and crime on the rise, several of us decide to call
a neighborhood meeting to see if a neighborhood watch program could be
started for our area South Rockport. We had a great turn out for our
first meeting including the County Judge, Mayor of Rockport, Justice
of the Peace, and Sheriff. We decided we were not just a neighborhood
watch group but a group who cared a lot about South Rockport. Thus
SOUTH ROCKPORT NEIGHBORS, INC. was formed.
We started
growing in numbers and taking donations. Since our inception we have
been very active. Meeting once a month. We started a quarterly
newsletter. We are chartered, incorporated and have bylaws. We get
great pleasure in participating in important community programs.
Our
neighborhood watch program has been extremely effective. So effective
several "would be" victims have given donations to South Rockport
Neighbors, Inc. with overwhelming support. We always say in South
Rockport... "if neighbors watch out for
neighbors we can rid South Rockport of
crime."
We have been
extremely fortunate and tremendously effective for South Rockport. We
have a very positive outlook for the future of South Rockport and hope
your will join with your support and enthusiasm.
